SPS has commenced operations at its fifth distribution
center in Bolingbrook, Ill., to service the North Central United States.
The SPS Chicago warehouse adds approximately 24% to the
company’s warehouse capacity and brings its total combined distribution
space to approximately 235,000 sq. ft. The significant increase in total
warehouse space enables SPS to provide its Midwest customers with products in a
shorter time and at a lower shipping cost.
“We are now able to stock significantly greater
numbers of the products our customers want and need every day,” Eric
Craig, vice president of operations at SPS, said in a press release.
“SPS’s Midwest customers will be served much more efficiently and
without reliance on our other warehouses in Middletown and Atlanta for
fulfillment.”
The new Chicago facility began full operations on August
1.
“The return of a Chicago distribution center
facility marks a significant fulfillment of an SPS promise to Midwest customers
who relied upon its swift and reliable service for many years,” Connie
Withers, vice president of sales, said in a press release. “The addition
of a new training facility in Chicago will also compliment SPS’s expanding
product education programs.”
