Otto Bock HealthCare received the 2009 award for “Prosthetic or Orthotic Product Innovation” from the Limbless Association for E-MAG Active.
E-MAG Active works independently of the ankle joint or sole of the foot. The system opens and closes automatically while walking, locking in the stance phase and unlocking in the swing phase. A sensor system measures the position of the leg during walking and electronically controls the orthotic joint accordingly.
“Otto Bock is extremely pleased with this award as it recognizes significant innovation in orthotics,” Craig Stevens, product manager at Otto Bock HealthCare, said in a news release.
