LAS VEGAS — Joel Kinne, PT, DPT, a physical therapist with Innovative Neurotronics Inc., discussed the company’s WalkAide system at the Hanger Education Fair.
The system, designed for patients with foot drop, is an alternative to the standard ankle and foot orthosis (AFO) and offers more freedom in range, motion and functional ability, according to Kinne.
“A lot of the O&P clinicians like using the WalkAide system with their patients because it gives another dynamic technology,” Kinne said. “[The system can be a benefit to patients] whether they want to go barefoot, change their shoes or regain function using their own muscles and their own brain to relearn and retrain their body.”
