The Challenged Athletes Foundation has announced two major leadership changes to forward its strategic plan through 2018.
Virginia Tinley, Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) executive director since 1997, will assume the role of senior director for donor development and philanthropy.
“Virginia’s hard work resulted in global recognition, raising more than $67 million and assisting more than 11,000 challenged athletes around the world,” Jeffrey Essakow, CAF board chairman, said in a press release. “We are excited she will now be principally focused on taking our funding and development to a new level.”
CAF also announced William K. (Bill) Geppert will serve as interim CEO and lead CAF’s search for its next CEO. Geppert is currently a CAF board member. He retired from Cox Communications in 2011 after a 35-year career and previously served as interim president of San Diego Regional Economic Development Corp., president of the San Diego Bowl Game Association and board chairman of LEAD San Diego.
“We are delighted Bill has offered to step into the CEO role and guide us through this transition,” Essakow said in the release. “He is a long-term supporter of CAF, who is passionate about our mission and very clear on our strategic goals.”
