Wounded US, Israeli Veterans to join ‘Soldier Ride’ in New York

Five former Israel Defense Forces soldiers who were wounded during military service will take part in the Wounded Warrior Project’s Soldier Ride along with wounded U.S. veterans.

The annual adaptive cycling event will be held in Manhattan, N.Y., on July 16, in Babylon, N.Y., on July 17 and in the Hamptons, N.Y., on July 18, according to a press release.

“This unique event is an opportunity for wounded service members and veterans from the United States and Israel to bond and share experiences,” David Peretz, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) veteran, said in the release. “I am excited to be part of the Soldier Ride and look forward to meeting the supporters who made the program possible.”

The IDF are coming to New York with help from the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF), which is partnering with the Wounded Warrior Project for the event.

Many IDF participants are part of the FIDF Strides program, a non-profit organization that helps injured veterans rediscover their strength by providing advanced prosthetics for athletic activities, such as running, biking and other sports.
