Hanger Charitable Foundation awards $56,500 in grants

The Hanger Charitable Foundation has announced $56,500 in grant awards to six non-profit organizations that help people with physical challenges.

The donations are part of the second round of grant awards conferred in 2017 by the Hanger Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit established by Hanger Inc. in 2009. Since its creation, the foundation has bestowed more than $800,000 to more than 35 nonprofit organizations, according to a press release.

The latest beneficiaries include:

  • Austin Blades Sled Hockey Corporation, which will receive $5,000 to support adaptive sled hockey camps and tournaments;
  • Challenged Athletes Foundation, with a grant of $25,000 to provide adaptive sports equipment, coaching, mentoring and competition expenses to people with physical challenges;
  • Cranio Care Bears, which will receive $10,000 to provide support through care packages to families of children facing surgery for craniosynostosis;
  • Disabled Sports USA, which will benefit from a $10,000 grant to support young people with limb loss or limb difference during a 6-day adaptive winter sports camp;
  • Girl Scouts of Central Texas Inc., which will receive $1,500 to fund a service project in which girls will learn how to use technology to make an impact on the lives of people with physical challenges; and
  • Power on with Limb Loss, which will receive $5,000 to support education and mentoring of people with limb loss or limb difference through community activities, sports and outreach.
