Maverick McNealy, who made his professional debut with the PGA Tour earlier in October, visited Shriners Hospitals for Children-Northern California in Sacramento, where he putted with patients and viewed the state’s only hospital-based EOS 3-D diagnostic imaging center.
According to a press release, McNealy learned how the hospital uses computers to design and fabricate high-performance prosthetic devices that meet the individual needs of patients. He also visited the hospital’s motion analysis center, where laboratory tests are used to improve outcomes for children with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, limb differences, brachial plexus birth palsy and other mobility disorders.
“McNealy’s final stop on the hospital tour was the central play area, where patients anxious to practice putting with the pro greeted the golfer with loud applause,” according to the release. “Mitchell and Spencer Cady, Northern California patient ambassadors for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, were among the field of golfers. McNealy presented each of the ‘miniature’ golfers with an autographed golf ball.”
The Shriners Hospitals for Children Open is scheduled for Oct. 31-Nov. 6 in Las Vegas. Patients from Shriners Hospitals for Children-Northern California will be among McNealy’s fans at the tournament, according to the release.
