The Cleveland Clinic Rehabilitation Hospital in Beachwood, Ohio, officially opened to the public, with a mission to treat patients with stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputation, neurological disorders and orthopedic conditions.
According to a press release, the 60-bed inpatient facility is the product of a partnership between Select Medical Corporation and Cleveland Clinic. It will feature private rooms and provide patients with physician specialty care, including physicians trained in physical medicine and rehabilitation. In addition, its programming will be informed by Select Medical’s flagship hospital, Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, which has four locations in New Jersey.
“Together, with Cleveland Clinic, we are bringing world-class care to the greater Cleveland region in the area of medical rehabilitation,” David S. Chernow, JD, president and chief executive officer of Select Medical, said in the release. “Our joint venture, anchored by a shared mission and commitment to deliver high quality care and clinical outcomes, continues to grow with the needs of the community it serves.”
The Beachwood facility is the second medical rehabilitation hospital developed under the partnership — a location in Avon, Ohio, opened in December 2015. A third rehabilitation hospital is scheduled to open in Bath, Ohio, in November, according to the release.
