A technical services manager for Ottobock UK is among those providing prosthetic and orthotic maintenance and repairs at the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto.
According to an Ottobock press release, Russell Pizzey joins the current technical services team for the Invictus Games, which began Sept. 23. His duties will include ensuring the O&P devices used by the athletes are functioning at peak levels.
This year’s competition has attracted more than 550 athletes from 17 countries. The athletes will compete in a dozen adaptive sporting events. The competition was founded by Prince Harry in 2014 as the first and only international adaptive sporting event for injured active duty and veteran service members.
According to Ottobock, Pizzey has provided technical services at every Invictus Games, including London 2014 and Orlando 2016. He also served at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. He has more than 30 years of experience in the prosthetics industry, having started his career as an apprentice in 1979. He has worked at Ottobock for the past 22 years.
