The U.S. National Member Society of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics has indefinitely postponed its 2017 Caribbean Rim Conference, which had been scheduled for Oct. 26-28 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, due to the damage caused by Hurricane Maria.
According to an official with the U.S. National Member Society of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (U.S. ISPO), the organization will announce new dates for the conference “when it is appropriate to do so.”
News reports from Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria have described outright devastation, with 100% of the U.S. territory still without power as of Thursday, Sept. 21. Reports indicated it could take months to restore power to the island.
The U.S. ISPO is encouraging people to donate to the following charities, to aid in the recovery:
