NovaCare Orthotics & Prosthetics in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, hosted a First Climb clinic this month in collaboration with the Orthotic & Prosthetic Activities Foundation, according to a press release.
Held at the climbing gym at Spooky Nook Sports, the clinic was led by First Climb instructor Tommy Lyon, who was assisted by Spooky Nook staff and a volunteer group of physical therapy students from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. The event also featured an appearance by two-time Paralympian Tyler Carter, a member of the Paralympic and U.S. Ski Team. Tyler is a native of Topton, Pennsylvania, and is a member of the Orthotic & Prosthetic Activities Foundation Advisory Board, according to the release.
“This was my first time climbing and it looks like a sport I’ll get into,” Bob McCabe, a participant in the event, said in the release.
According to the release, the gym offered shear-face, bouldering and self-belaying climbing environments, with Lyon offering coaching advice.
