Registration is open for the Össur Women’s Leadership Conference, which is scheduled for Sept. 28 to 30 at the company’s Academy facility in Orlando, Florida.
According to a press release, the 3-day conference is open to all O&P professionals and students, and will feature sessions on strengthening leadership skills, the impact of increasing diversity in the field and other critical issues within the industry. Speakers will include Kerstin Plehwe, Jo Miller and Paralympian April Holmes.
“Our second annual Women’s Leadership Conference is intended to educate, energize and engage female O&P practitioners,” Karen Edwards, director of the Össur Women’s Leadership Initiative (ÖWLI), said in the release. “Now more than ever, our company embraces the strength of diversity and the importance of women’s leadership as the face of the O&P field continues changing. We believe supporting these changes will ultimately benefit both patients, as well as the profession as a whole.”
According to Össur, the ÖWLI provides career and leadership development resources to O&P professionals through webinars, blogs and the Women’s Leadership Conference. Last year, the inaugural conference attracted more than 24 attendees, Edwards said.
Registration for the 2017 Össur Women’s Leadership Conference is $50 per person. Continuing education units will be provided to eligible attendees. The full agenda for the event, as well as speaker biographies, can be viewed here: www.ossur.com/resources/owli/owli-events/owli-conference-2017.
