Harold H. Sears, PhD, will retire from his position of president of Motion Control Inc. effective July 1, according a press release from Fillauer Companies Inc., the business’ parent company.
Sears will continue working with Motion Control on a part-time basis as president emeritus. Arthur (Art) Dyck, Motion Control’s current vice president for operations, will assume the role of president when Sears officially steps down.
“I want to thank Harold for his dedication to the prosthetic profession and Fillauer,” Michael Fillauer, chief executive officer of Fillauer, said in the release. “I am appreciative that Harold will remain in a part-time position with us through the transition in leadership to continue his great work with our company. With this change, I am pleased that Art will be leading the future Motion Control. He has been with the company for the past 29 years, understands the business and is well-suited to take the reins at Motion Control.”
During Sears’ 35 years with Motion Control, the company commercialized the Utah Arm, one of the first myoelectric elbows, as well as the ETD, the first water resistant electric terminal device. In addition, he travelled to multiple countries, providing myoelectric and upper limb clinical education to prosthetists, therapists, physicians and patients.
