Freedom Innovations, an Irvine, California-based manufacturer of lower limb prosthetics, has announced a new education branch that will include live training, online courses and webinars, according to a press release.
The Freedom Institute of Technology (FIT) will provide practitioners with the latest information on products, new technology, clinical techniques and reimbursement support.
“We feel it is important to offer a robust educational program to all of our clinician partners,” David Smith, chairman and chief executive officer of Freedom Innovations, said in the release. “The Freedom Institute of Technology gives our customers direct access to information and tools they need to thoughtfully serve their patient population. The foundation of our company and products is innovation. We strive for continuous positive changes that result in ease of use for our patients. FIT conveniently shares meaningful information about our products, either in-person and hands on, or through online interactive learning.”
The FIT curriculum will be divided into three areas. The FIT Forums, or live trainings, will be in-person mobile courses presented by clinical prosthetists and span the Freedom Innovations portfolio. Topics will include fitting and proper candidate selection for devices, device programming and gait training. The FIT online courses will offer interactive learning 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and cover the Kinnex microprocessor-controlled ankle, the Plie 3 microprocessor-controlled knee and others. The FIT webinars will cover timely topics important to clinicians, such as auditing, as well as coding and billing practices for lower limb prosthetic devices. All FIT courses are American Board for Certification approved and offer continuing education credits for clinicians.
“When we have breakthroughs — whether on the product side, or the business side — we want to relay that information quickly to our clinician partners,” Coryn Olpin, director of FIT, said in the release.
