Endolite’s fully integrated limb system, called Linx, has been selected as a finalist in the rehabilitation and assistive-technology products category of the 19th annual Medical Design Excellence Awards, according to a press release. The winners will be announced at the 2017 Medical Design Excellence Awards ceremony on June 13 at the Jacob Javits Conventions Center.
According to the release, the award ceremony will be part of the larger 2017 annual Medical Design and Manufacturing (MD&M) East event, a gathering of thousands of medical technology engineers and executives, organized by United Business Media.
“Linx represents ground-breaking technology within the prosthetics industry as it continuously shares information between the knee and foot to adapt automatically to changing terrains and circumstances, allowing users more freedom, confidence and stability,” according to an Endolite press release. “The replication of natural motion is at the heart of Endolite’s design philosophy, and Linx represents the beginning of the development of intuitive and integrated prosthetic limb systems.”
There are a total of 45 finalists in nine medical technology product categories. A jury panel judged products on design and engineering innovation, function and user-related innovation, patient benefits, business benefits and overall benefit to the health care system. The jury is made up of practicing doctors, nurses, technicians, industrial designers, engineers, manufacturers, and human-factors experts, the release noted.
