Friddle’s Orthopedic Appliances Inc. announced it has entered a distribution agreement with Extremiti 3D, according to a press release. Friddle’s will distribute Extremiti 3D’s line of transtibial and transfemoral check and definitive sockets and protective covers to O&P clinics, government hospitals and rehabilitation facilities, the release noted.
“We produce 3-D printed sockets and protective covers that have multiple advantages over traditionally fabricated devices,” Barry Hand, cofounder and chief executive officer of Extremiti 3D, said in the release. “At Extremiti 3D, we design our 3-D printed sockets to meet the [International Organization for Standardization] standard for lower limb prostheses. This defines what conditions the components of the device must withstand for optimal performance.”
“By working with an innovative company like Extremiti 3D on 3-D printed sockets and prosthetic modules, we are able to offer another option to our customers for socket and cover design and fabrication, using less hazardous materials that are strong and lightweight,” Rachel Friddle-Johnson, CPO, chief executive officer of Friddle’s Orthopedic, said in the release. “It is a winning solution for our customers and we are confident we will lead the way with this new approach in the prosthetic industry.”
According to the release, Friddle’s Orthopedic staff will work with customers to obtain each patient’s specific fit measurements and accessory appliance data in order for Extremiti 3D to print each device.
