The American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists is seeking comments on the development of an evidence review on error rate reduction for lower limb prosthesis, according to a press release. The request for comments is in response to an inquiry from the Effective Health Care program at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
The request follows a December 2016 call for comments from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) on questions related to lower limb prosthesis. At that time, the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP) sought member comments and, in conjunction with the O&P Alliance, submitted a formal response to AHRQ.
According to the release, the key questions and study eligibility criteria have been revised based on those comments to improve clarity, focus the topics more closely with the sponsor’s needs, and to evaluate measures and outcomes of interest to stakeholders.
The academy has posted the protocol for the evidence review at www.effectivehealthcare.ahrq.gov/search-for-guides-reviews-and-reports/?pageaction=displayproduct&productID=2451. The portal for the voluntary submission of scientific information packets can be found at www.effectivehealthcare.ahrq.gov/index.cfm/submit-scientific-information-packets.
The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. EDT on April 28.
