LAS VEGAS – At the Hanger Education Fair and National Meeting, John Rheinstein, CP, FAAOP, clinic manager for Hanger Clinic in New York City, said taking greater care in performing amputations can lead to less patient pain, faster healing, a decreased need for adjustments and fewer repetitive prosthetic sockets during the patient’s lifetime.
“This will have a huge impact on the field because the patients will do better,” Rheinstein said. “There is no doubt that a well-healed, properly formed residual limb improves the quality of life for patients.”
