PathMaker Neurosystems Inc. recently announced it was named as a finalist for the Innovation Prize 2016. According to a press release, the global award was founded by Universal Biotech and recognizes innovative startups and research academic groups that are “developing cutting-edge technologies in the field of life sciences.”
PathMaker is one of six finalists chosen from 259 entrants from 38 countries. According to the release, finalists were selected based on scientific quality of the innovation, intellectual property, quality of the human resources, project feasibility and market access strategy. The jury includes experts from major health care companies, pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology societies and legal firms with experience reviewing new technologies. PathMaker was chosen for its noninvasive systems that treat patients with neural pathway disruptions, such as stroke, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury.
“At PathMaker, we are honored and excited to have been named a finalist for this prestigious international competition,” Nader Yaghoubi, MD, PhD, president and chief executive officer of PathMaker, said in the release. “With the team, technology and story that we have brought together, we are working to as rapidly as possible bring our noninvasive technology to the patients who need it.”
The winner of the Innovation Prize will be announced during Innovation Days, an international event to be held Oct. 3-4, 2016 at the Maison de la Chimie in Paris.
