The Challenged Athletes Foundation recently announced it has partnered with the Mazda Foundation Inc. for this year’s annual Mazda Foundation Million Dollar Challenge.
The Mazda Foundation Million Dollar Challenge is a week-long, 620-mile cycling journey from San Francisco to San Diego. The event raises more than $1 million to support Operation Rebound, a Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) program that helps injured veterans and first responders with physical challenges to re-integrate into society through sports and physical fitness. Operation Rebound offers grants for adaptive sports equipment, training and competition expenses, according to a press release.
“The Mazda Foundation is honored to be the title sponsor of this one-of-a-kind event that allows those participating to ride side-by-side with the challenged athletes their fundraising is supporting,” Tamara Mlynarczyk, Mazda Foundation program director, said in the release. “We are proud to be able to continue to support the Mazda Foundation Million Dollar Challenge. Through this event, millions of dollars have been raised to make a life-changing impact on this community.”
“We are grateful for the continued support from the Mazda Foundation that directly puts CAF’s mission into action,” Ken Wheatley, chief executive officer of CAF, said. “Individuals participating not only experience a ride of a lifetime, but through Mazda Foundation’s efforts, we are able to provide grants to individuals with physical challenges so they can pursue an active lifestyle through sport and physical fitness.”
The Mazda Foundation Million Dollar Challenge is limited to 100 cyclists. The event is scheduled to be held in October.
