Hanger Charitable Foundation awards ends year with five new grants

The Hanger Charitable Foundation announced the completion of its final round of grants for 2015 by awarding more than $140,000 to five nonprofit organizations.

The foundation awarded more than $250,000 to 14 nonprofits in 2015, according to a press release. In addition to the previously announced $100,000 grant to Camp No Limits, the foundation awarded the following:

  • A grant of $25,000 to the American Trauma Society’s Trauma Survivors Network to provide resources and information about care and recovery to trauma patients and their families;
  • A grant of $10,000 to Camp Kayak’s Texas Rowing for All program, to fund watersports camps in Central Texas for young people with physical, sensory and cognitive disabilities;
  • A grant of $5,000 to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to support its summer camp in the San Francisco area for children with neuromuscular disease; and
  • A grant of $2,500 to ACCESS of Wilmington’s Miracles in Motion 5K, which is meant to provide a safe, accessible space in Wilmington, N.C. for people with disabilities to participate in sports.

Prior grants were awarded to the Challenged Athletes Foundation, Sepsis Alliance, Catalyst Sports, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, The Painted Turtle, CPATH and the Down Syndrome Network of Arizona.

The deadline to apply for the next round of funding is Jan. 31, 2016.
