Team Össur set six world records and won seven gold, six silver and four bronze medals at the 2015 International Paralympic Committee World Championships in Doha, Qatar, according to a press release.
U.S. sprinter Richard Browne Jr. received a gold medal in his world record-setting performance in the 100 m and 200 m events. He also took home a silver medal as part of the U.S. 4×100 m relay team.
Marie-Amélie Le Fur of France, who competed in the T44 category, won four medals including gold for her world record-setting 5.84 m in the long jump and world record-setting time of 59.30 seconds in the 400 m sprint. She also took silver medals in both the 100 m and 200 m events.
T44 athlete Markus Rehm, of Germany, was a double gold medalist, winning one as a member of his country’s T42-47 4×100 m relay team and another in the men’s long jump, where he achieved a world record of 8.40 m.
T42 athlete Daniel Wagner Jörgensen, of Denmark, was a triple medalist, winning silver in the men’s long jump and bronze medals in the 100 m and 200 m events.
Richard Whitehead of Great Britain, a double amputee, won the T42 200 m with a world record-setting 24.10 seconds, and Helgi Sveinsson, a T42 Icelandic athlete, won a bronze medal in the javelin event.
Team Össur swept the T43-44 100 m sprint with Browne winning gold, Arnu Fourie, of South Africa, wining silver and Alan Oliveira, of Brazil, taking a bronze. Oliveira also won silver in the 200 m.
April Holmes, of the United States, and Giusy Versace, of Italy, also competed at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Worlds.
