Paralyzed Veterans of America recently announced it has named Kenny R. Dison, a Marine Corps veteran, as its new associate executive director of Veterans Benefits. According to a press release, Dison previously worked as a national service officer at Paralyzed Veterans’ service office in Sacramento, Calif.
“It is an honor to be in the position to advocate for veterans and be their voice as we work together to ensure they are receiving the benefits they are entitled to, have access to the health care they’ve earned, and are presented with valid opportunities for civilian careers that will support their families,” Dison said in the press release. “I am excited to lead this department and the dedicated individuals who work in the field every day, one-on-one with veterans to make these tangible differences in their lives.”
In his new role, Dison will oversee a network of 69 offices across the United States. Many of the offices are located within Department of Veterans Affairs spinal cord injury centers.
Dison is a paralyzed veteran who incurred a spinal cord injury in 2011 during a vehicle accident while on duty as deputy sheriff in his hometown of Eureka, Calif. He joined Paralyzed Veterans in 2013 and participated in the Veterans Benefits Department Executive Internship program, which he completed summer 2015.
