The NeuroRecovery Training Institute recently announced Jennifer Richards, CPO, LPO, CPed, FAAOP, will be the instructor of its Advanced Pathologic Gait Assessment and Orthotics course scheduled for March 20, 2016 at Frazier Rehab Institute in Louisville, Ky.

According to a press release from the NeuroRecovery Training Institute (NeuroRTI), Richards is a NeuroRTI faculty member and a practitioner at Cornerstone Prosthetics and Orthotics Inc. in Sequim, Wash. She has worked as an O&P practitioner in hospitals and private clinics, and has graduate-level teaching experience in both O&P and physical therapy schools.
The course will review normal and abnormal gait from the perspective of an orthotist. Richards will present observational gait analysis and the basics of orthosis design to enable therapists to analyze the components of pathological gait and design lower limb orthoses based on gait needs.
“Orthoses are an important factor the rehabilitation of the child or adult with lower limb weakness or paralysis as the result of congenital anomaly, disease, or accident,” Richards said in the press release. “I look forward to helping course participants learn the criteria associated with the successful design and implementation of lower limb orthoses and presenting them with information they can take back to work immediately.”
The course for licensed physical therapists includes 6 hours of online lectures and a day at a clinical site. Course participants will earn 14 contact hours from the NeuroRTI/Evidence In Motion Institute of Health Professions.
