CMS recently announced all Recovery Audit Contractors may continue their active recovery auditing activities, including sending additional documentation requests. The announcement became effective as of Nov. 13, 2015.
According to a CMS update, the announcement marks the end of a “pause in operations” that has been in place for Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs) since Feb. 18, 2014.
CMS announced on Nov. 6 that it was pursuing contract modifications to the current RAC contracts to allow each of the four existing RACs to continue their auditing activities through July 31, 2016.
