Hanger Clinic recently announced it has appointed James Campbell, PhD, CO, FAAOP, as chief clinical officer, effective Nov. 16, 2015.
According to a company press release, Campbell will primarily focus on the development of clinical practice guidelines for major medical conditions, as well as capturing patient outcomes and translating them into value for payors.
Campbell has worked at Becker Orthopedic in Troy, Mich., for the past 17 years. Most recently, he held the position of executive vice president and was responsible for clinical services, research and product development, manufacturing, engineering, quality, regulatory affairs and central fabrication.

According to the release, Cambell has been a member of the board of directors of the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA) since 2012. He is chair of AOPA’s survival imperative on Outcomes and Evidence Based Practice and has been elected the board president for 2016.
Cambell is a member of the advisory board for the PhD program in the Department of Applied Physiology at Georgia Tech University, is on the Biomedical Engineering Industrial Advisory Board at Lawrence Technological University and is on the Advisory Board for the O&P Program at Eastern Michigan University.
He has served as a member of the board of directors for the American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetists (AAOP) and served as chair of the group’s Educational Development Council. In addition, Cambell was the editor in chief for the Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics from 2000 to 2003. He received AOPA’s Thranhardt Award in 2000 and was the Orthotic Education & Training Trust Invited Lecturer at the UK National Member Society of International Society for Prosthetics & Orthotics in 2005. He was recognized with the AAOP’s Distinguished Practitioner Award in 2013, and has been actively involved in the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research’s Formative Program Review on Rehabilitation Engineering Research Centers.
