Paralyzed Veterans of America recently announced it has been selected as a recipient of The Call of Duty Endowment’s 2015 Seal of Distinction.
The award, given to three veteran service organizations, recognizes excellent programs for the employment of veterans. Paralyzed Veterans of America received the award for its vocational rehabilitation program, Operation PAVE (Paving Access for Veterans Employment).
“Being awarded the Call of Duty Endowment Seal of a Distinction is an honor, Sherman Gillums Jr., deputy executive director of Paralyzed Veterans of America, stated in a press release. “Still, the best evidence of the PAVE program’s success is written on the faces of the veterans and caregivers we’ve placed, and we will use this opportunity to expand our reach, serve more people, and do our part to further drive down veteran unemployment.”
Applicants for the Seal of Distinction were required to provide documentation on job placement results including number of placements made, average cost per placement, average starting salary, 6-month retention rate, background checks for key employees and various indicators of organizational financial health, according to the release. Qualified applications were evaluated by the endowment’s board of advisors, and semi-finalists were independently assessed before receiving approval from the board.
“It is a privilege for Paralyzed Veterans of America to be recognized by the Call of Duty Endowment with its 2015 Seal of Distinction award,” Shelly Stewart, MBA, acting director of the PAVE program, stated. “Achieving CODE’s highest standards of excellence in veterans’ employment is demonstrative of our team’s passion and commitment to provide quality programs and services for our members and clients.”
The PAVE program offers free one-on-one career counseling, benefits assistance, and support to U.S. veterans and their family and caregivers.
