A group of more than 12,300 golfers, including 567 injured service members, raised more than $1 million for the Wounded Warrior Project at the fifth annual “World’s Largest Golf Outing” event.
The event was held at 132 courses across 28 states, with a portion of golfers’ entry fees, as well as donations, benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).
“It is humbling to see this amazing event evolve into an industry-wide initiative,” Peter Hill, chairman and CEO of Billy Casper Golf, sad in a press release. “Raising awareness and critical funds for the brave men and women whose sacrifices secure our freedom is paramount.”
The World’s Largest Golf Outing has raised more than $3 million for WWP since the first event in 2011. WWP provides support to more than 76,000 injured service members, as well as 13,000 caregivers and family support members, through 20 programs and services.
“The unwavering support from golfers across the country is beyond words,” Adam Silva, chief development officer of WWP, said in the release. “The money raised is helping Wounded Warrior Project create and sustain 20 life-saving programs free of charge to injured veterans and their families.”
