TUCSON, Ariz. — Second Life Virtual World offers amputees and other people with disabilities an accessible outlet that provides education and support, according to Sandra Winkler, PhD, OTR/L, a researcher at Nova Southeastern University who is studying the use of the project to aid people with disabilities. Winkler, along with John Kinder, patient care coordinator for Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics and amputee advocate, shared the ways Second Life can help users self-manage their disabilities at the Amputee Coalition National Conference.
