The Orthotic and Prosthetic Activities Foundation has selected Emily Tierney as the winner of the 2015 Dale Yasukawa Scholarship.

Emily Tierney

Tierney is pursuing a master’s degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics at Northwestern University. The Orthotic and Prosthetic Activities Foundation (OPAF) chose Tierney for her commitment to O&P care, according to a press release.

“I am incredibly honored to receive The Dale Yasukawa Award and would like to personally thank the board of directors of the fund for their time and consideration,” Tierney said in the release.

The award is open to all full-time master’s students enrolled in Northwestern’s prosthetic program at the Northwestern University Prosthetic Orthotic Center. The goal of the scholarship is to inspire students to join and participate in the annual American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetics (AAOP) meeting.

The award is to be used to help defray meeting registration fees for the AAOP meeting and assist in the purchase of books, supplies and equipment for the continuing studies in the Northwestern University’s prosthetic program, according to the release.
