Paralyzed Veterans of America launches REVolution fundraising program

Paralyzed Veterans of America has announced the launch of a new program, REVolution — Racing to Empower Veterans.

REVolution provides able-bodied runners a way to improve quality of life for paralyzed veterans while doing something they love. Participants raise money to support the free programs and services which include benefits aid, employment counseling and research for better treatments and a possible cure for paralysis, according to a press release.

Currently, REVolution is accepting participants for the Air Force Marathon and Half-Marathon in Dayton, Ohio, on Sept. 19, as well as for the Marine Corps Marathon on Oct. 25 in Washington D.C.

“People across the country are eager to give back to our military heroes,” Al Kovach Jr., national president of Paralyzed Veteran of America, said in the press release. “Paralyzed Veterans has been working on behalf of veterans with spinal cord injuries for nearly 70 years. Now, REVolution is one more way for able-bodied runner Americans to do something they love while supporting a cause they are passionate about: helping paralyzed veterans.”

All runners participating are required to raise a minimum of $500 to assist Paralyzed Veterans in funding spinal cord research and education, advocacy and legislative issues, rehabilitation services, adaptive sports and 70 Paralyzed Veterans service offices.

REVolution’s goal for the two fall events is to raise more than $40,000, according to the release.
