The International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics opened its annual World Congress on June 22 in Lyon, France.
This year’s theme, “AIM: Assessment, Integration and Mobility,” focuses on specialist discussions and personal exchanges between medical practitioners, researchers, technicians, manufacturers and therapists, according to a press release.
The World Congress’ host nation is represented by 36 of the 138 exhibitors, who also come from the United States, Germany, Great Britain the Netherlands, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China and Turkey.
“Europe is one of the most important markets for the industry and France is, therefore, an ideal venue for this international sector rendezvous,” Helene von Groote, International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) project director, said in the release. “[German company] Leipziger Messe is organizing the leading trade show, OTWorld, and with their experience and expertise, are excellent partners for the ISPO. We are delighted to have been involved in this collaborative partnership with the organization since 2010 and equally pleased by the considerable interest shown in the World Congress and the accompanying exhibition.”
The next congress will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2017.
