Shriners Hospitals for Children has joined the Mayo Clinic Care Network, according to a recent press release.
The national network will allow the 22 Shriners locations to offer providers and patients access to additional expertise from Mayo Clinic and enhance delivery of local care, the release said.
Tools and services available through the Care Network include eConsults and AskMayo Expert, exclusive online reference systems. Member organizations will also have the opportunity to consult with Mayo Clinic on operational and business processes, as well as access to patient education materials, physician and scientist grand rounds conferences.
Launched in 2011, the network now has more than 30 member organizations across the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico.
“We are so pleased to welcome Shriners Hospitals for Children into the network,” David Hayes, MD, medical director at the Mayo Clinic Care Network, said in the release. “We have a relationship that dates back to our founders, and we’ve been proud to work with Shriners Hospitals on behalf of patients. Through the network, we’ll be able to work even more closely, sharing what we know to enhance locally delivered care.”
The Mayo Clinic Care Network represents non-ownership relationships, according to the release. Shriners Hospitals for Children and other members of the network remain independent.
