The Enable Community Foundation recently announced it has been awarded a $600,000 grant as part of the 2015 Google Impact Challenge. The grant will support the mission of e-NABLE, a global network of volunteers that provides 3-D printed prosthetic hands to those in need, according to a press release.
“Because we now have unprecedented access to knowledge, to technology and to fellow problem-solvers, we have new options to for developing, sharing and disseminating new solutions to challenging intractable problems,” Ivan Owen, a member of the Enable Community Foundation (ECF) board of directors, said in the release. “The e-NABLE community has thrived by using communications and collaboration tools that are breathtakingly powerful, rapidly evolving and virtually free. With Google.org’s direct support, we can do even more.”
The ECF will use the grant funding to collect feedback and data from e-NABLE’s users, organize global design challenges and improve its current devices while developing new tools and processes, according to the release.
