CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. – The Association of Children’s Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinics Annual Meeting began here with the presentation of the New Investigator Research Award.
Natasha Casimir, PT, MS, DPT, physical therapist at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Tampa, Fla., was honored for her investigation of new methods to treat children with limb deficiencies.
The award, sponsored by Ottobock, is presented each year to a student or resident for their research and participation in Association of Children’s Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinics (ACPOC).
David Rotter, CPO, ACPOC president, emphasized its importance.
“We started this initiative to bring new participants into ACPOC – future therapists, orthotists, prosthetists – these guys are going to be the backbone of our organization for years to come,” he said. “I hope that through this, and through the remainder of this meeting, people will see what we all find so special about O&P.” – by Shawn M.
