Össur and the Challenged Athletes Foundation have announced a new, multi-year, global sponsorship that will continue their decades-long collaboration to support people with limb loss.
“We are pleased to be continuing our collaboration with the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) by extending this agreement and increasing our overall support for this valued partner,” Jon Sigurðsson, MA, Össur CEO, said in a press release.
The sponsorship will support a nationwide series of Össur Running and Mobility Clinics presented by the CAF. Participants will work with volunteer clinical professionals and parathletes to learn proper running form with drills and exercises. Additionally, individuals can learn ways to achieve mobility goals from amputee rehabilitation experts, Robert S. Gailey, PhD, and Peter Harsch.
More than 300 participants attended the clinics in 2014, according to the release.
“CAF is dedicated to helping people with physical challenges live full, active lives through participation in fitness activities and competitive sports,” Virginia Tinley, MBA, CAF executive director, said in the release. “The Össur Running and Mobility Clinics we present are a wonderful means of fulfilling our organization’s mission, and we are pleased to be continuing this collaboration, so that even more amputees may benefit from the right to participate in physical activities.”
