Livingston, Scotland-based Touch Bionics has announced that new coding issued by CMS will increase patient access to the company’s prosthetic solutions for partial hands.
According to a company press release, until CMS issued new coding and updated allowables, there was no appropriate base code which could be billed in conjunction with the code relating to articulating digit technology (L6715). CMS has now issued a new code (L6026) that is specific to partial hand patients. The allowables for all of the appropriate i-limb digits codes also were increased at the beginning of 2015.
“We are pleased that patients covered by CMS will now have access to the i-limb digits technology, to help empower them with a solution to support their return to function and independence,” Ian Stevens, CEO of Touch Bionics, stated in the release.
