The 2015 board of directors was elected at Össur’s annual general meeting and will serve until the company’s next annual general meeting in March 2016.
The board includes Niels Jacobsen, of Denmark, who will serve as chairman; Kristján Tómas Ragnarsson, MD, of the United States, who will serve as vice chairman; Arne Boye Nielsen, of Denmark; Guðbjörg Edda Eggertsdóttir, of Iceland; and Svafa Grönfeldt, PhD, of Iceland.
According to a company press release, Jacobsen has been a board member since 2005 and served as chairman since 2006. He is president and CEO of William Demant Holding A/S, a Danish industrial group in the health care field of hearing. Ragnarsson has been a board member since 1999 and served as vice chairman since 2012. He is a professor and chairman of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine for Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Nielsen has been a board member since 2009 and is president of Diagnostic Instruments for William Demant Holding A/S. Eggertsdóttir has been a board member since 2013 and is a professional management consultant. Grönfeldt has been a board member since 2008 and is chief organizational development officer of U.S. pharmaceutical company Alvogen.
