Össur and Myomo have signed an agreement to sell Myomo’s patented MyoPro orthosis technology in the United States.
MyPro was based on technology created at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has been proven to aid in the restoration of function for people who have a paralyzed arm due to a stroke, spinal cord injury, nerve damage or conditions such as multiple sclerosis or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, according to a press release.
“Our new agreement with Myomo underscores our commitment to delivering innovative products that improve quality of life for individuals across the U.S., including many veterans who have suffered upper limb disability,” Kim De Roy, CPO, PT, Össur America’s president of Sales and Marketing and Education, Prosthetics stated in the release.
“The agreement marks a significant step in the commercialization of the MyPro product line,” Paul R. Gudonis, CEO of Myomo stated. “Össur is a world leader in orthotics and prosthetics and we look forward to partnering with them to reach a greater number of patients who may benefit from this important technology who enables individuals to perform activities of daily living and return to work.”
