A team of physiotherapists were awarded a grant of more than $380,000 to lead research into resistance training in young people with cerebral palsy.
The £250,000 award, granted by Action Medical Research for Children and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Charitable Trust, will be used for a 3-year study to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of resistance training for children with the cerebral palsy.
Jennifer Ryan, PhD, and Cherry Kilbride, PhD MSc MCSP PGCert (LTHE), from Brunel University London, and Wendy Levin, a physiotherapist at the Royal Free London hospital, will lead the study, which will include a randomized controlled trial of 60 people between the ages of 12 years and 19 years.
