Össur has announced the launch of its new Women’s Leadership Initiative. The initiative is intended to support independent O&P practitioners by providing a forum that encourages interaction, community-building and educational opportunities that serve women in the industry.
Early this year, Össur sponsored an online survey in which a 93% of female respondents agreed that O&P needed more women in leadership roles. A total of 83% indicated interest in more resources for further developing their personal leadership capability.
The new program will offer an educational webinar series, a dedicated blog and ongoing focused content, according to a company press release.
“We recognize the importance of providing dedicated resources to encourage more women to join the profession, and to marshal their growing influence in the field,” Kim De Roy, CPO/PT, Össur vice president of sales and marketing and education, prosthetics, stated in the release. “We champion the principle of inclusiveness, whether in the context of physical ability, gender or ethnicity, and we are taking that commitment to the next level with this new effort.”
Registration is free and open to all women in the O&P field, including orthotists, prosthetists, pedorthotists, mastectomy fitters, technicians and students. The initiative will launch in 2015.
