The Amputee Coalition Board of Directors announced it has appointed Susan Stout as president and CEO of the organization effective Nov. 1.
Susan Stout
Stout joined the Amputee Coalition in 2011 and has held several positions in the organization, including chief communications officer and chief policy and programs officer. She has served as interim president and CEO since September 2013.
“The Amputee Coalition Board and I are confident that Sue is the right person to lead the organization forward,” Dennis Strickland, chairman of the board, stated in a press release. “We believe that her passion for our mission and dedication to serving the limb loss community has been instrumental in advancing the organization at a national level, and we are delighted that she has accepted the appointment.”
Stout has provided oversight and leadership to all Amputee Coalition programs, including government relations, communications, research, the Limb Loss Resource Center, peer support and the youth camp. She has also built and maintained long-lasting relationships with many partners, including the Veterans Administration, the CDC, Orthotic & Prosthetic Activities Foundation and the Amputee Coalition’s nationwide network of hospital facility members.
“I am honored to take on this role permanently and excited about the possibilities that lie in our future,” Stout stated in the release. “I will continue to bring leadership to and advance the organization with the assistance of our volunteers and the entire Amputee Coalition team as we carry on this exciting journey to achieve our mission to advocate for and empower those affected by limb loss and to promote limb loss prevention.”
