LAS VEGAS — OPIE Software announced at American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association National Assembly that the company is merging Futura International Inc. under its corporate umbrella.
“Our two organizations have been friendly competitors for the past decade, but it is amazing how things work out sometimes,” Paul Prusakowski, CPO, CEO of OPIE Software, stated in a press release. “The OPIE team has been extremely focused for the past few years on growing the number of independent O&P practices using our systems so that we could get to the scale where our software tools could really impact the profession. When Don [Bauernfeind, president of Futura International] presented us with the opportunity to talk about how we could work together, we realized that instead of spending resources competing with Futura, we could use those same resources to help drive new technologies to help both of our client bases. We knew we had to find a way to make this happen in order to truly help the O&P profession take a dramatic step forward.”
The newly combined organization will provide a staff of more than 65 people dedicated to helping O&P practices in today’s health care environment. According to the release, by bringing together the 980 locations using the OPIE Software with the more than 700 locations using the Futura System, the merged company can now leverage its development, support and training resources to help clinicians, administrators, billers, practice managers and O&P practice owners more effectively.
