Scheck & Siress has announced a partnership with John C. Dunham STEM Partnership School at Aurora University. The science, technology, engineering and mathematics school for students in third through eighth grades invited Scheck & Siress to create an interactive display of the human form made entirely of orthotic and prosthetic devices.
“This is the first in the nation for this type of program,” Jessica Gissal, Scheck & Siress marketing manager, told O&P Business News of the partnership.
The display, which highlights the specialties of Scheck & Siress orthotists and prosthetists, encourages students to actively engage and participate in the materials. Devices on display can be operated with the push of a button.

The display highlights a number of O&P devices including an externally powered myoelectrically controlled prosthetic hand and a total surface bearing active vacuum socket, according to a company press release. Students can also handle three types of prosthetic feet and practice putting the feet into a CAM boot. They also can try the boots on themselves.
Scheck & Siress is part of a group of corporate sponsors for the school that were invited to aid in curriculum development.
