PHILADELPHIA — The Wounded Warrior Amputees Football Team played a group of former NFL players in the Tribute to Heroes Challenge, a head-to-head flag football competition, here.
The challenge pitted men and women who lost a limb during service in Iraq or Afghanistan against a team of more than 25 former players from the Philadelphia Eagles and other NFL teams.
Former players included Brian Westbrook, AJ Feeley, Ike Reese and Mike Mamula. The event was hosted by Ron Jaworski and Vince Papale, and took place at the Wells Fargo Center prior to the Philadelphia Soul vs. Orlando Predators game. The game ended in a final score of 63 to 35, bringing the Wounded Warrior Amputees to an undefeated 8-0 record against NFL alumni teams.

With the support of the Military Benefit Association, the Philadelphia Soul and Zimmer, the first 5,000 members of the military and their families received free admission. This event honors military service heroes and will take place in other cities this year including San Antonio, San Diego and Detroit.
