The Orthotic & Prosthetic Activities Foundation has named Brianne Bergeron as the 2014 Dale Yasukawa Scholarship winner.

“We are pleased with the selection of Brianne as the 2014 Dale Yasukawa Scholarship winner,” Robin Burton, OPAF executive director, stated in a news release. “We believe she will reflect the fine clinical work that has come to be recognized by all of our scholarship winners.”
Bergeron received a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology-human movement from Louisiana State University and was chosen as a Tiger Twelve for academic leadership and service. She will graduate from the Northwestern University’s Prosthetic Orthotic Center in March 2015.
OPAF also announced that Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics and its owner, Jeffrey Brandt, CPO, endowed the $1,000 scholarship for 2014. It is the seventh year in a row that Ability has donated and designated funds for the scholarship.
“I was a scholarship recipient while at Northwestern and knew and worked alongside Dale at RIC-Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. So when this scholarship in his name was started, I made the commitment to him and to the students that I would always fund it. It gives me great pleasure to give back in Dale’s name and help a new student enter the profession,” Brandt stated in a release.
The Dale Yasukawa scholarship program is open to all full-time, master-level candidates enrolled in Northwestern University’s Prosthetic Orthotic Center. The scholarship is intended to encourage student participation in the annual meeting of the Midwest Chapter of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists and help defray the costs of books, supplies and equipment for students.
