The Amputee Coalition has won the APEX Award of Excellence for its Facebook page and its 2014 edition of First Step: A Guide for Adapting to Limb Loss, according to a company press release.
The Coalition’s Facebook page has more than 16,000 likes and has developed into a virtual peer support group for the amputee community.
First Step, published by the National Limb Loss Resource Center, is specifically designed for caregivers and people who have experienced recent limb loss.
“We are extremely proud of the national recognition given to our premier publication and our Facebook page,” Susan Stout, interim chief executive officer and Coalition president, stated in the release. “Both provide much needed peer support to the limb loss community.”
The APEX Awards recognize publication excellence and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence.
