McKeever’s First Ride held its sixth annual event May 6 in Lawrenceville, Ga., Sponsored by Ottobock and ABC, more than 200 attendees participated in fencing, grooming, roping and other equestrian activities. The event also included live music, a petting zoo, therapeutic riding and massage stations.
McKeever’s First Ride offers healing of mind, spirit and much more, according to a press release. Reggie Showers, a bilateral, transtibital amputee and member of the Orthotic & Prosthetic Activities Foundation (OPAF) board of directors, served as the guest speaker, and underlined the importance of maintaining a positive attitude within the O&P community
The event honors the memory of Dan McKeever, CP. The next event will be hosted in Atlanta, April 18, 2015 and organizers are planning a similar event in Austin, Texas.
