The Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC) recently announced it has consolidated its certification and accreditation departments.
Wendy Miller, BOCO, CDME, has been promoted from director of facility accreditation to chief credentialing officer and will be responsible for the successful integration of the certification and accreditation departments and will lead the direction, strategy, policies, and day-to-day operations of BOC’s credentialing programs.
Miller has been a BOC-certified orthotist since 1994 and brings to her new role more than 20 years of experience in the durable medical equipment and O&P industries. Miller served on the BOC board of directors for 6 years, where she was instrumental in the development of the orthotic fitter and mastectomy fitter certifications.
Jeff Price, MCP, has been promoted from director of operations to chief operating officer. Price has 15 years of nonprofit and association management expertise. He will direct, maintain, and support BOC’s strategic and operational initiatives by ensuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and success of all business processes in the areas of IT, human resources, financial management and marketing. He will help define and implement the strategies and operational business plans to support BOC’s strategic initiatives and growth.
Price has supervised and executed several projects for BOC, including a mobile and web application to streamline the facility accreditation site survey process, and the design and launch of MyBOC, a customer-centric web portal on the BOC website.
“We are very excited for BOC’s future and the new roles Wendy and Jeff have assumed,” Claudia Zacharias, MBA, CAE, BOC president and chief executive officer, stated in a press release. “Our long-standing plan has been to unify the two departments to promote internal and external efficiency and cohesiveness. The new alignment allows us to better serve those who depend on BOC.”
Additionally, BOC announced the departure of Jan paul Miller, MA, MEd, who served since 2011 as BOC’s director of certification. Miller was recruited to oversee the certification department at the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), whose membership includes nearly 7,000 healthcare technology professionals who support the healthcare community in the development, management, and use of safe and effective medical technology.
