The Swiss National Competence Center of Research in Robotics (NCCR) announced it is organizing a Cybathlon to be held in the Kolping Arena in Kloten, Switzerland, October 2016.
The Cybathlon is a competition for parathletes using advanced assistive devices and robotic technologies, including powered knee prostheses, wearable arm prostheses, powered exoskeletons, powered wheelchairs, electrically stimulated muscles and novel brain-computer interfaces. The assistive devices can include commercially available products as well as prototypes developed by research labs.
“The main goal of the Cybathlon is to provide a platform for the development of novel assistive technologies that are useful for daily life,” according to the Cybathlon website. “Through the organization of the Cybathlon we want to help removing barriers between the public, people with disabilities and science.”
